Hawaii

The tropical paradise of Kauai basks amidst the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. Formed some six million years ago, the island encompasses roughly 550 square miles and is the oldest and northernmost of the main Hawaiian Islands.

Kauai is carpeted in lush greenery, enshrouded with flowers of all colors, fresh island fruit, and oftentimes a gentle, cool mist. Each Island has its own distinctive charm, and Kauai is the tropical centerpiece of Hawaii. Home to the largest canyon in the Pacific (Waimea Canyon) and a dramatic sight to behold. The canyon measures 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit. The lines in the canyon walls depict different volcanic eruptions and lava flows that have occurred over the centuries. Even though smaller than the Grand Canyon of Arizona, Waimea Canyon rivals the beauty.

It's no wonder why over 60 feature films have been shot here. Majestic Manawaiopuna Falls was shot in Jurassic Park. The tranquil Wailua River was used in Blue Hawaii. The Anahola Mountains were the backdrop for Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Your first trip to Kauai should be a treat to the senses. The key is to keep your eyes open so Kauai may be revealed to you.
Here the scenery is so magnificent it defies description. The only thing that can compare to the natural beauty of this island is the beauty of the people of Kaua'i with their genuine friendliness and spirit of Aloha.
